Can I use Curlaway on my children's hair?

Yes you can. Be sure to keep the gel out of their eyes and follow the directions, applying the gel yourself

I have super kinky hair. I just want looser curls. How do I do that using Curlaway?

Just apply Curlaway daily as a leave-in. Your hair will gradually relax making larger ringlets. It will take about a month.

Will Curlaway relax new growth?

Yes. Apply Curlaway to the new growth with your fingers, pull your hair straight and leave on overnight. Comb remaining gel through your hair in the morning. Repeat if needed.

Can I apply Curlaway over permed or relaxed hair?

You can refresh your relaxed hair by using Curlaway, especially if you have used a lye or one of the "no-lye" relaxers such as potassium hydroxide, lithium hydroxide, or guanidine hydroxide. If you used a conventional perm containing ammonium bisulfite (used for waving hair), Curlaway is not recommended.

How does Curlaway work?

Curlaway gently loosens the disulfide bonds within the matrix of your hair without breaking them, as alkaline relaxers do. Curlaway causes the disulfide bonds in the shaft to rotate a bit resulting in a looser curl. Curlaway also makes your hair less sensitive to the moisture of sweat or humidity.

What is the active relaxer ingredient?

Fermented wheat and corn forms acetic acid and this natural acetic acid in Curlaway is what is relaxing your hair.

Can I color my hair while using Curlaway?

Yes, you can color your hair either before or after using Curlaway. Just don't apply Curlaway on the same day as you color-treat. However, Curlaway may cause color fading if you use temporary colorants such as Henna.

Do I need heat?

Curlaway will relax your curl without heat, but using heat will result in much faster results.

How long does my hair stay relaxed?

Curlaway is a product you continue to use when you need more relaxation or for roots. If you stop using Curlaway completely your hair will recurl in about 4 to 6 weeks.

How do I use Curlaway daily?

Apply a small amount with your palms, then comb through. Avoid over-applying or your hair will appear oily rather than shiny. There is no build-up with Curlaway, so you can apply it daily as a leave-in styling aid and use heat appliances to finish.

Is Curlaway compatible with other products?

Yes, Curlaway can be used with other hair-styling products and all shampoos and conditioners.

How can I minimize the fragrance of Curlaway?

Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to a jar or partial jar of Curlaway and mix well.
